As you are aware, the Healthier Homes Guarantee Act 2017, is coming into effect 1st July next year.
Although the Healthier Homes standards are yet unspecified, the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) has been working closely with housing experts, the government and the industry to develop HomeFit, a tool that assess a properties compliance with the existing Residential Tenancies Amendment Act 2016, and the following areas that are anticipated to be required under the upcoming Healthier Homes Act:
- Insulation
- Ventilation
- Heating
- Moisture
- Mould
- Smoke Alarms
- Water efficiency and safety
- Windows and heat loss
- Lighting
- Clothes Drying (for moisture)
