We love cars.

That should come as no surprise, as we are mechanics! But there is one kind of car that we really love, and that is the BMW. We always strive to provide our clients with the best service possible. But when it came to BMWs, we knew something was missing.

We knew we needed a specialist.

We needed Yonko.

But it took us 6 months to find him! Let’s wind the clock back 6 months and I will tell you the story…

How We Found Yonko

Anzac Automotive has been a European car specialist for quite some time now. It has always been in our plan to have specialised brand technicians for each type of vehicle on our team. So, this is the first step towards achieving that goal.

The role had been advertised locally many times, but none of the candidates were suitable. None had the depth of specialist knowledge that we required. So, we decided to look offshore via a recruitment agency. Thank goodness we did, because it led us to finding Yonko.

Once we heard about him, we had to see him in action. We brought him to New Zealand to test his skills and check that he could do the things we needed him to. From the moment he stepped into the workshop we have been in awe of his knowledge. Welcoming him to the Anzac Auto team was the culmination of a 6-month journey and we are so excited by the skill he brings to our workshop.

Meet Yonko…

Yonko hails from Bulgaria and has spent his entire career working on BMW vehicles. He has previously worked in a BMW franchise dealership and 2 other independent workshops that specialised in BMWs. He even ran one of those workshops, which was a similar size to our workshop. So he definitely knows his stuff!

Because of his extensive experience, he knows BMWs inside and out. They are his passion. He is highly skilled and takes the utmost care with every vehicle he touches.

It didn’t take him long to make an impression on our customers. He had only been on the job for 2 days when a customer came in with a BMW that they had taken to a few places before to diagnose a particular issue. The car was misfiring in the cold. The issue had been diagnosed as a coil and a spark plug. But, when those parts were seen to, the issue still remained.

So we let Yonko loose on it.

In less than 90 minutes, Yonko found that it wasn’t a coil and a spark plug that was the problem. In fact, it was an issue with the Varnos intake system, a system that is only used in BMW vehicles. His specialist knowledge found what other mechanics could not. He fixed the system and the customer drove away in a vehicle that was good as new.

This showed us that Yonko belongs on our team. Any BMW owner can be fully confident that their vehicle is in expert hands when it comes into our workshop.

Yonko knows the right way to go about a problem, and the correct order to do things in to create both efficiency and safety. He also helps you to save money and the inconvenience of a breakdown, as he can spot things now that could become a problem later. You then have the option to get them fixed right away, or to plan for the near future.

While Yonko loves BMWs, he also has other passions. Part of the reason he decided to move to our beautiful country is so that he and his family can take advantage of the fantastic outdoor experiences. His wife and son will be joining him shortly and they can’t wait to hit the mountain bike tracks.

One thing that Yonko had to do a bit of research on is where he can play ice hockey, as that is his second passion. He and his son are both looking forward to hitting the indoor ice rinks to knock the puck around as there is a distinct lack of frozen lakes to play on in Auckland!

But because we are confident in the parts we use and the quality of our work, we will happily offer you an extra 12 months.

No one likes surprises, so we concentrate on a no surprise approach. That means we don’t want to give you any surprises when we hand over the invoice.
