Regular flossing, brushing and visits to the dentist as well as ditching sugary drinks are all obvious ways to keep your mouth healthy. But what else can you be doing? Carry on reading for some easy ways to optimise the health of your teeth.
1. Replace your toothbrush regularly
Your toothbrush only has a limited life of up to three months so in order to get the best out of brushing replace your brush before the bristles bend.
2. Use the right brushing technique
Just as important as a good brush is the right technique. Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle, pointed toward the gum line, and use gentle, short, circular motions. Brush each tooth 10 to 15 times, twice a day for optimum healthy team.
3. Practice flossing
Flossing may seem like a faff but practice makes perfect and it should be a regular part of your oral hygiene routine. The right way to floss is to wrap about a foot of floss around your index fingers, keeping about two inches between your fingers to work with. Unroll a fresh section of floss for each tooth, and keep the floss tight against the tooth to break up plaque while leaving your gums in good shape.
