fail-stamp

Everyone loves a good ‘fail’ and since Haystack is a recruitment software tool, we thought we’d share our top 5 biggest job ad fails. Whether it be asking for far too much experience, advertising that your recruiter is a children’s cartoon character, or adding speculation that your replacing someone recently deceased – you have to love them all. Enjoy our Friday-Fun post!

 1. Time travelling waitress wanted!

Waitress Needed

You have to love a good typo and this one takes the cake. I can’t imagine there are a lot of 18 year old’s with 20 years waitressing experience, for that manner I can’t imagine there a lot of 20 year old’s with it.

2. Hmmm that would definitely be the most interesting interview I’ve had.

Burger King

Sometimes you need to be careful about putting multiple pieces of information on display, or at least use a full stop if you’re going to do that – what a great example of how one dot can make such a difference. The outcome in this circumstance was Burger King announcing to the world that Sponge Bob Square Pants is their new HR Manager. I must admit that interview would be more fun than most.

3. Always be careful where you place the words ‘Now Hiring’.

Fried Turkey

With advertising space being shared by any company that can get their hands on it, having the words ‘Now Hiring’ placed in the right position is crucial. So when you place it above a banner with the words ‘Fried Turkeys’; you’re going to have a bad time – unless of course you want scorched turkeys running around your workplace (I have a feeling that might be a breach of health and safety).

4. Do they at least provide company health insurance?

Car Mechanic

Sometimes you have to watch your wording or your applicants will be running for the hills. It seems like some genius mechanic has put the words now hiring right after their disturbing motto. The end result leaves you wondering if they’re running low on staff because of workplace injuries and whether or not their break checks are really that great.

5. Ahhhh should I ask what happened to Dave?

Wendy's

Once again it all comes down to the placement of the words ‘Now Hiring’ – seems like people never learn. The answer is no, you’re not the only one left looking at this sign wondering what happened to Dave, but as a job seeker, it doesn’t fill you with a sense of safety – maybe McDonald’s would be a better option.
